Vegetarian Living Magazine – Karin Ridgers

It’s been another whirlwind month. Working till 1am last night (again!) getting things sorted for VeggieVision. We have has some brilliant clips sent in by viewers – do have a look. A mystic ‘reading’, a viewer singing in the shower as well as a rather fun puppet!

Most delicious meal:

If you are in the area then do get along to the rather fab Bobby Jo’s 50’s Diner in Southend. They have a vegetarian and vegan menu thanks to the good work of the local veggies in the area. They keep well stocked with everyone’s favourite vegan friendly range Fry’s and you can enjoy a vegan friendly hotdog, burgers, a full tasty breakfast and more.

Reasonably priced and good size portions we love the dairy free ice creams and milkshakes there too.

Tony and Jo who are passionate about the 50’s era and they are always so friendly. Bobby Joes has a super atmosphere and it was great to be able to take my son Callum out for ice cream.

Interesting place:

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!London

After working inLondonfor most of my working life I never really got to see any of it. Packed with amazing raw, vegan and veggie friendly restaurants it makes for an ideal day out or weekend away and enjoy it as a tourist.

Ripley’s Believe It Or Not!Londonis a great place to visit, home to over 700 historical and cultural artefacts as well as weird and wonderful exhibits including a lock of Napoleon’s hair, three authentic Ecuadorian shrunken heads and the famous sweater worn by Marilyn Monroe for her last photo shoot on the beaches of Malibu!

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! London is open seven days a week, 365 days a year from 10am until midnight. Tickets to this world of wonders, situated in the heart ofLondon’sWest End, start from £25.95 per adult and £19.95 per child, including entry to the Mirror Maze.

We had a great time and looking forward to going back.

New friend:

Sarah Jane Honeywell

Sarah and I connected and she is my new best friend. Fellow passionate vegan Sarah is keen to film with VeggieVision and we have her new single too on the Entertainment Channel –  Karma.

Sarah says…

“I was a severe asthmatic and since I’ve turned vegan I haven’t had one attack which is amazing.”

“I spend less on food and it’s great because the advertisements and deals for new foods can’t con me in to buying new products anymore.”

She is passionate about making a difference and I am looking forward to chatting and enjoying a vegan lunch with Sarah soon.

Great book

If you haven’t already you MUST invest in The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. In fact stop now! Search for it on Amazon and just grab yourself a copy. I picked mine up when it was rather unknown a fair few years ago and now this cult success boasts an audio book, DVD and even part 2 called – The Power.

The Law of Attraction is something that all fellow veggies need to know about and it has helped my life during some extreme challenges.

Super shopping:

I am very fussy about what products I use and supporting a veggie and eco friendly company is ideal.

Simply Soaps are a leading green and carbon neutral company – they are all about super products and not the packaging.

They set out to make wonderful handmade products in particular cold process soaps, ‘in harmony with you and the environment’. And a long time before anyone else was even thinking about greener living.

They also recently beat some seriously stiff competition and are the winner of a Janey Loves 2011 Platinum Award for Best Natural Candles. I have known Janey Lee Grace for some time now and she is rather fab herself! (See her on VeggieVision now too.)

The wax of the winning candle has a low melt point so that you can pour the oil directly onto the skin (blow out the candle first!) To use for a sensual massage and the plant oils can be used directly onto the skin to moisturize, use on the lips, or the entire body. A must have!

Best laugh:

I love TOWIE.  Filmed just 10 minutes from where I live The Only Way isEssexis hilarious and if you don’t LOL and take it as a comedy then you are missing out.

I am waiting for one of the cast to be veggie – that will get our message in the news!

The club where they all hang out is The Sugar Hut so some friends and I headed over there for a girly night out.

Heaving and with more fake tan and fake eyelashes than in Boots we did have a good laugh.

I wondered how many people dancing away were fellow passionate vegans. I do find myself in some odd places. Like when I was in the middle of the “For Fox Hunting” demonstration outside The Houses of Parliament….
